At the beginning of March (5-6 of March), Black Sea NGO Network in Varna, Bulgaria, with partners in Greece, Georgia, Romania and Ukraine, invited interested stakeholders for a regional workshop of the RESPONSE project, “Setting up and running training courses on marine pollution management”.
The topics presented on 5 March included sources of marine pollution, such as accidents and military operations, types and impact of pollution in the Black Sea as well as monitoring and responses.
These highly current issues initiated a lively debate between project partners and stakeholders about the present situation, and a call for more collaboration between authorities, educational establishments, NGOs, and local communities.
On 6 March, after further discussions in the morning, the participants had the opportunity to test a monitoring of marine litter on Asparuhovo beach in Varna.🌊💙
