Aristotle University of Thessaloniki – AUTh, Greece
Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) is the lead beneficiary of RESPONSE project. AUTh is the largest university in Greece, with a solid track record in the European Research Area, as well as in training and networking with various public authorities and stakeholders. It will be responsible for two work packages and the overall management of the project. The AUTh team is currently involved in the Horizon 2020 project INCENTIVE on the establishment of citizen science hubs and FutureMARES on the impact of climate change on marine ecosystem services and biodiversity. Together with BSNN, it has been a major contributor to the MARLITER project on improving online public access to environmental monitoring data in the BS basin. The team has expertise in project management, marine ecology, environmental indicators, modelling and conservation management.
Black Sea NGO Network – BSNN, Bulgaria
The Black Sea NGO Network (BSNN) is a regional network of environmental organisations based in Varna, Bulgaria, with observer status at the Commission on the Protection of the Black Sea against Pollution and a record of accomplishment of successful projects in the region. It has worked with four of the other organisations, either as a coordinator or as a partner in joint projects. BSNN is a partner in the SOS-ZEROPOL2020 project, funded by Horizon Europe, which aims to prevent and reduce marine pollution in European seas. BSNN led the coordination of MARLITER and serves as a partner in LITOUTER, focusing on addressing marine litter pollution. The team is experienced in project coordination, stakeholder mapping, socio-economic analysis and citizen science.
National Institute for Marine Research and Development “Grigore Antipa” – INCDM – NIMRD, Romania
The National Institute for Marine Research and Development “Grigore Antipa” (INCDM – NIMRD), located in Constanta, Romania, stands as a prominent research institution in the Black Sea basin. It actively engages in numerous regional projects focusing on marine environmental monitoring and pollution assessment. NIMRD is a reliable partner in Horizon 2020 projects such as BS CONNECT, DOORS, BRIDGE, focusing on different dimensions of the BS ecosystem. It collaborates with BSNN in LITOUTER. Its team has expertise in oceanography, marine chemistry, modelling, as well as technology transfer and dissemination.
Institute of Market and Economic & Ecological Researches of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine – IMEER NASU, Ukraine
The Institute of Market and Economic & Ecological Researches of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (IMEER NASU) is located in Odesa, Ukraine. It is a public institution, part of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. It is an active research institute with expertise in natural resource governance from a social science perspective. It has extensive experience in working with various partners and stakeholders in the context of the Black Sea Basin Programme (e.g. MARLENA, ZeroWasteBSB projects).
Black Sea Branch of Ukrainian Environmental Academy of Sciences – BSBUEAS, Ukraine
The Black Sea Branch of Ukrainian Environmental Academy of Sciences (BSBUEAS) is an Odesa-based NGO with a team of professional researchers. Their expertise ranges from marine ecology and oceanography to economics, stakeholder analysis and citizen science. Team members have participated in regional environmental projects within the Black Sea Basin Programme (MARLITER, BSB-CIRCLECON) and are successfully networking with local authorities and specialised agencies in the Odesa region.
Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth – GMG/FoE, Georgia
The Greens Movement of Georgia / Friends of the Earth (GMG/FoE) – Georgia is an NGO, part of the international environmental network, and an active player in the country’s civil society. It implements projects funded by European governmental cooperation agencies (e.g. Management of natural resources and safeguarding of ecosystem services for sustainable rural development in the South Caucasus (ECOserve) – GIZ, Germany; Keep Georgia Tidy – SIDA, Sweden), and team members take part in Horizon Europe funded projects focusing on the state of the BS ecosystem.
