RESPONSE in brief

RESPONSE is a cross-national 3-year long project (01/10/2023 – 30/09/2026), supported by the European Union within the framework of the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF).

It aims to develop and test new training schemes and curricula for the monitoring, reporting, management and mitigation of marine pollution, with particular attention to pollution caused by armed conflicts. The stakeholders’ societal needs and requirements will drive the co-creation of the framework for the establishment and operation of an advanced training system.

As a result, RESPONSE will enhance stakeholder understanding, improve access to training plans, and empower diverse participants in post-conflict marine pollution management. Training curricula will be co-created, integrating up-to-date ICT tools for adaptable and replicable programs. Co-deployment with key stakeholders will establish a platform for advanced, adjustable marine pollution response skills. The monitoring and evaluation framework will ensure ongoing improvements, fostering stakeholder capacity. Strategic action plans will boost interest in integrating outputs into operational agendas, drawing regional stakeholders’ attention to policy recommendations. Continuous monitoring and evaluation will support adaptability, addressing evolving challenges in marine pollution, fostering a culture of continual improvement.
