On the 3rd of February 2025, the Greens Movement of Georgia/Friends of the Earth – Georgia, in collaboration with Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University and its CARE SEA project, successfully hosted a hybrid co-creation workshop on Marine Pollution Monitoring and Response Curricula at Auditorium 32 of BSU, as part of the EU EMFAF-funded RESPONSE project.
🌊 Highlights from the Workshop
🔹 Key Stakeholder Collaboration: Experts, policymakers, academia, and environmental NGOs worked together to develop and enhance training programs aimed at tackling marine pollution challenges in the Black Sea region.
🔹 Cutting-Edge Discussions: Topics included modern pollution measurement techniques, advanced modeling tools, remote sensing, and emergency response frameworks, ensuring a science-driven approach to monitoring and response.
🔹 Strengthening Regional Capacity: The workshop focused on establishing strong, up-to-date curricula to train professionals and institutions in Georgia and across the Black Sea in marine pollution monitoring, emergency preparedness, and response.
🔹 Innovative Approaches: Emphasis was placed on AI-driven monitoring, early warning systems, and community engagement strategies to enhance resilience against marine pollution threats and marine pollution incidents.
🔹 Commitment to Sustainability: Participants reaffirmed their dedication to cooperation, knowledge-sharing, and policy alignment to protect and restore the Black Sea ecosystem.
